Apollo Scoops Excellence in Manufacturing and Engineering Award
Published: 14 October 2019
Apollo is celebrating being awarded a winner at this year’s Tamworth Business and Community Awards.
The family-owned business was presented with the Excellence in Manufacturing and Engineering Award at the ceremony on 4 October at Statfold Railway Museum.
Now in its fifth year, the awards celebrate all that is great about Tamworth, from businesses to residents and recognise those who have helped Tamworth to establish itself as a great town to do business and to live.
Apollo Chairman, Jon Saunders, attended the event alongside Warehouse, Production and Engineering colleagues and was proud of his team for winning the award. Jon said: “Winning the award is great news for Apollo. We’ve been in business in Tamworth since 1972 and have always strived to be the best at what we do. But we can’t do this without a brilliant team of colleagues. Each and everyone one of our 190 employees have played their part in winning this award and I’m incredibly proud that Apollo has been recognised for leading the way in terms of industry innovation and manufacturing techniques.”
Commenting on behalf of the Tamworth Business and Community Awards, judge, Diane Bridgen, from Central Hub Logistics, said: “We were impressed with Apollo’s history and its significant achievements in terms of sales and growth. However, what ultimately stood out for us was how they never lose sight of the need to invest in their employees not just in the business infrastructure. As the business has grown the workforce has increased and great emphasis is placed on retaining colleagues, providing them with the necessary skills to develop their own needs in line with the business needs. In addition, the welfare of employees is taken very seriously with various support initiatives available including access to confidential support, information services and counselling.
“We heard some amazing stories of success and real passion for business from a number of entrants, but we felt that Apollo stood out on so many levels – congratulations to the team.”
